Understanding E-E-A-T AFTER Googles Data Leak (May 2024)

Information Reliability around E-E-A-T may not be as important to Google as we once thought. As Rand Fishkin stated in a video and article about the recent Google data leak “I’m a bit worried that E-E-A-T is 80% propaganda, 20% substance. There are plenty of powerful brands that rank remarkably well in Google and have very little experience, expertise, authoritativeness,” and I do now somewhat agree.


However, when we look at what E-E-A-T intends accomplish as a whole, it can still be greatly useful at the user-level. Readers will trust you more with original images, clear personal experience, and the reason you are capable of helping them (aka, your qualifications).


Because of this, I still feel that its important to make sure you have an author bio and author archive set up on your site for each of your authors, and connect it to their social media or other relevant bios.


The author-related attributes found within the leaked data seem to be the only connection to EEAT so far.
